L’Ascensore is a non-profit cultural association dedicated to contemporary art, founded in Palermo in 2015 thanks to the patronage spirit of Alberto Laganà, with the support of Danilo Signorino, Vito Bongiorno, and under the artistic direction of Gianluca Concialdi until 2017. Its aim is to promote international cultural exchange by offering young artists an experimental exhibition space. At the same time, the association seeks to leave a tangible mark on the city, enhancing a space that evolves and transforms through the interventions of invited artists, who have the opportunity to spend time in Palermo in dialogue with the local artistic community and artisans.
Since the end of 2017, the artistic direction has been entrusted to the duo Genuardi/Ruta, who curate a program focused on the latest international trends, always in relation to the cultural context of the territory. In 2020, Carlo Corona joined the team, contributing to the organization of events. Recently Riccardo Matranga, Cosimo Callari and Attilio Lodetti Alliata also embraced the initiative, supporting, together with the others, the development of future projects.
