Il bagno galvanico è un processo che consente di ricoprire un metallo di base con uno strato sottile di un metallo più prezioso e nobile, sfruttando la deposizione elettrolitica. Attraverso questo processo si ottengono, ad esempio, la cromatura e la doratura.
In questo caso una materia organica è stata dipinta con una vernice contenente metallo, rendendo possibile trattarla come un metallo.
Sarebbe stato possibile creare un frutto immortale se fosse stato completamente incorporato nel rame; invece è ricoperto solo per metà, un tallone d’Achille che ci permette di osservare la vita minerale e quella organica allo stesso tempo.
